Belfast Veterinary Care is seeking an accomplished and dedicated Veterinarian Cardiologist with advanced qualifications to join our practice. As a Veterinarian Cardiologist, you will play a pivotal role in providing specialised cardiac care to our animal patients. Responsibilities include diagnosing and treating complex cardiac conditions using advanced diagnostic tools such as echocardiography, ECG, and CT. You will collaborate closely with our multidisciplinary team of veterinarians and support staff to ensure comprehensive and integrated care for our patients.

The ideal candidate will be a Qualified Veterinary Surgeon, along with advanced training in veterinary cardiology from a recognised institution. Board certification is required. Strong clinical skills and experience in managing a wide range of cardiac cases are essential. Additionally, excellent communication skills and the ability to educate clients and colleagues about cardiac conditions and treatment options are crucial.

Criteria

Essential Criteria:

  • Advanced Qualification:

    • Hold a Certificate, Diploma or equivalent degree in Small Animal Cardiology from a recognised veterinary body.

  • Clinical Experience:

    • Extensive clinical experience in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular diseases in animals, including experience in advanced diagnostic techniques like echocardiography, electrocardiography, and cardiac catheterisation.

  • Continuing Education: 

    • Stay current with advances in veterinary cardiology through ongoing continuing education and professional development activities.

  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: 

    • Show experience working collaboratively with other veterinary specialists (e.g., internal medicine, surgery) to manage complex cardiovascular cases.

  • Advanced Skills in Diagnostic Imaging:

    • Acquire advanced skills in cardiac imaging techniques beyond standard echocardiography, such as CT imaging.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Advanced Training: 

    • Pursue additional advanced training or programs in specific areas of veterinary cardiology, such as interventional cardiology or cardiac imaging techniques.

  • Experience in Teaching or Mentorship: 

    • Have experience in teaching and mentoring veterinary students, interns, or residents in the field of cardiology.

  • Publication and Research: 

    • Demonstrate a commitment to research and scholarly activity in the field of veterinary cardiology, including publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals.

  • Leadership Roles: 

    • Demonstrate leadership skills through involvement in professional organisations, committees, or leadership positions related to veterinary cardiology.

  • Residency in Cardiology: 

    • Complete a rigorous residency program in veterinary cardiology, typically lasting 3-4 years, under the supervision of board-certified veterinary cardiologists.

  • Continuing Engagement with Professional Community: 

    • Actively participate in the veterinary community through memberships in relevant professional organisations and participation in conferences and workshops.
