Experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)

Belfast Veterinary Care is seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience to join our dedicated team. Essential Criteria:

  • Valid Registration:

    • Must hold current registration with the appropriate veterinary nursing council or board.

  • Extensive Clinical Experience:

    • Minimum 5 years of practical experience in veterinary nursing across a range of clinical settings, including emergency care, surgery, anaesthesia, and medical treatments.

  • Advanced Knowledge:

    • Proficient in handling complex cases, diagnostics, and treatment protocols independently.

  • Team Leadership:

    • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior veterinary nurses and support staff.

  • Client Communication Skills:

    • Excellent communication skills with clients, providing empathetic and informative advice and support.

  • Critical Thinking:

    • Ability to make quick and accurate decisions in challenging and fast-paced environments.

  • Organisational Skills:

    • Strong time management and organisational skills to handle multiple cases efficiently.

  • Commitment to Continuous Learning:

    • Actively engages in ongoing professional development and keeps up-to-date with advances in veterinary medicine and nursing.

  • Team Collaboration:

    • Works effectively within a multidisciplinary team of veterinarians, nurses, and support staff.

  • IT Proficiency:

    • Familiarity with veterinary practice management software and digital diagnostic tools.

  • Physical Fitness: 

    • Ability to handle physical demands of the role, for example lifting and restraining animals.

  • Specialised Skills:

    • Additional qualifications or experience in specific areas such as dentistry, behaviour, nutrition, or intensive animal care.

  • Management Experience:

    • Previous experience in a managerial or supervisory role within a veterinary practice.

    • Postgraduate qualifications or certifications related to veterinary nursing or management.

  • Commitment to Client Education:

    • Experience in developing and delivering client education programs or workshops.
