Belfast Veterinary Care is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Diagnostic Imaging Veterinarian to join our team. You will play a crucial role in utilising advanced imaging techniques to diagnose and treat a wide range of animal health conditions. Your responsibilities will include performing and interpreting complex imaging procedures such as CT scans, ultrasound, and radiography. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with our veterinary specialists and referring veterinarians to develop comprehensive treatment plans based on imaging interpretations.

 

The ideal candidate will have a Qualified Veterinary Surgeon with advanced training in diagnostic imaging, and be board-certified or board-eligible in veterinary radiology. Strong communication skills and the ability to explain imaging results clearly to clients and colleagues are essential. Criteria

Essential Criteria:

  • Advanced Qualification:

    • Hold a Certificate, Diploma or equivalent degree in Small Animal Imaging from a recognised veterinary body.

  • Experience in Imaging Modalities:

    • Proficiency in various imaging modalities including radiography, ultrasonography, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and nuclear medicine.

  • Diagnostic Interpretation Skills:

    • Strong ability to interpret imaging studies accurately and provide detailed reports to referring veterinarians.

  • Continuing Education:

    • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated with advances in veterinary imaging technology and techniques.

  • Team Collaboration:

    • Ability to work collaboratively with other veterinarians and veterinary specialists to provide comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and treatment plans.

  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration:

    • Experience collaborating with specialists in other disciplines such as surgery, oncology, or cardiology to provide comprehensive patient care.

  • Client Communication:

    • Strong communication skills to effectively discuss imaging findings and recommendations with pet owners and referring veterinarians.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Advanced Imaging Research:

    • Involvement in research projects focused on veterinary imaging, contributing to the advancement of diagnostic capabilities and understanding in the field.

  • Specialised Residency Training:

    • Complete a recognised residency program in small animal medicine, specifically focusing on imaging.

  • Specialised Expertise:

    • Additional expertise in a specific area of veterinary imaging (e.g., interventional radiology, oncologic imaging, neuroimaging).

  • Proficiency in Advanced Software:

    • Familiarity with advanced imaging software for image manipulation, 3D reconstructions, and quantitative analysis.

  • Teaching and Training Experience:

    • Experience in teaching and mentoring veterinary students, interns, or residents in imaging techniques and interpretation.
