Belfast Veterinary Care is seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our compassionate team. As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional care to our patients and supporting our veterinary team. Your responsibilities will include assisting veterinarians during consultations, surgeries, and treatments, as well as providing nursing care to hospitalised animals.

 

You will be responsible for administering medications, conducting diagnostic tests, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring the well-being and comfort of all patients under your care. Additionally, you will engage with clients, offering guidance on animal health and welfare. Criteria

Essential Criteria:

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) Qualification:

    • Must be a fully qualified and registered veterinary nurse recognised by the relevant regulatory body.

  • Advanced Qualifications:

    • Possess advanced qualifications such as a diploma or certification in specialised areas such as anaesthesia, critical care, surgical nursing, or similar.

  • Clinical Experience:

    • Demonstrable experience in a veterinary practice, ideally with a focus on advanced nursing techniques and procedures.

  • Excellent Patient Care Skills:

    • Proven ability to provide high-quality nursing care to animals, including monitoring, administering treatments, and post-operative care.

  • Team Player:

    • Capable of working effectively within a multidisciplinary team of veterinarians, nurses, and support staff.

  • Communication Skills:

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise effectively with colleagues and pet owners.

  • Attention to Detail:

    • Meticulous attention to detail, particularly in record-keeping, medication administration, and patient monitoring.

  • Problem-Solving Abilities:

    • Ability to handle challenging situations and emergencies calmly and efficiently.

  • Commitment to Continuing Education:

    • Evidence of ongoing professional development through courses, workshops, or conferences related to advanced veterinary nursing.

  • Client Relationship Building:

    • Experience in developing strong client relationships and providing outstanding customer service.

  • Adaptability:

    • Ability to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced veterinary environment, handling multiple tasks and cases efficiently.

  • Software Proficiency:

    • Familiarity with veterinary practice management software for patient records and scheduling.

  • Physical Fitness: 

    • Ability to handle physical demands of the role, for example lifting and restraining animals.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Specialised Experience:

    • Previous experience or additional training in a specific area of veterinary nursing (e.g., dentistry, oncology, behaviour).

  • Management Experience:

    • Previous experience in a managerial or supervisory role within a veterinary practice.

  • Leadership Skills:

    • Experience in supervising and mentoring junior veterinary nurses or support staff.

  • Technical Proficiency:

    • Familiarity with specialised veterinary equipment and technology used in advanced nursing procedures (e.g., ventilators, advanced monitoring devices).
