Experienced Veterinarian 

Belfast Veterinary Care is seeking an experienced Veterinarian to join our team in providing exceptional care to our animal patients and their owners. As an Experienced Veterinarian at our clinic, you will be responsible for diagnosing and treating a variety of medical and surgical conditions in pets, including dogs, cats, and occasionally other small animals.

 

You should possess a thorough understanding of veterinary medicine, including surgery, dentistry, internal medicine, and preventive care. Our ideal candidate will have several years of clinical experience, excellent surgical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners to educate them on pet health and wellness. You must be proficient in utilising diagnostic tools such as X-rays, ultrasound, and laboratory tests to accurately diagnose and develop treatment plans. Additionally, you should be committed to upholding the highest standards of patient care and customer service.

Criteria

Essential Criteria:

  • Veterinary Degree:

    • Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited institution.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in veterinary practice.

  • Medical Knowledge:

    • Comprehensive understanding of animal physiology, diseases, diagnostics, and treatment protocols.

  • Surgical Skills:

    • Proficiency in all common surgical procedures including caesarians, enterotomies, amputations and emergency soft tissue surgeries.

  • Communication Skills:

    • Strong interpersonal skills for effectively communicating with pet owners and colleagues.

  • Problem Solving:

    • Capability to diagnose and manage complex medical cases independently.

  • Compassion:

    • Demonstrated empathy and compassion towards animals and their owners.

  • Continuing Education:

    • Participation in ongoing professional development activities and continuing education courses.

  • Emergency Work:

    • Training or experience in handling emergency cases and critical care situations.

  • Multispecies Competency:

    • Experience and comfort working with a variety of domestic animals.

  • Technology Proficiency:

    • Familiarity with advanced diagnostic tools and veterinary software.

  • Client Education:

    • Able to educate pet owners on preventive care, treatment plans, and wellness strategies.

  • Collaborative Skills:

    • Willingness and ability to collaborate with other veterinary surgeons.

  • Area of interest:

    • Advanced training in a specific area such as surgery, internal medicine, dermatology, or oncology.

  • Leadership Skills:

    • Experience in team management or leadership roles within a veterinary clinic or hospital.

  • Business Acumen:

    • Understanding of veterinary clinic operations, financial management, and client relations.
